I hold a Master’s degree in Applied Spirituality, which I earned in 1985 from the University of San Francisco. I believe spirituality offers unique and powerful ways to cultivate inner wisdom and to connect with your own Wise Mind.

The Wise Mind is a concept that has gained increasing recognition in psychotherapy. Simply put, the rational mind and the emotional mind are two distinct aspects of the human experience. They operate by different rules, serve different purposes, and even function in different brain systems. Reason and emotion often feel like opposing forces in daily life. The Wise Mind represents a synthesis of the two. Research now shows that the highest function of the brain, located in the prefrontal cortex, is the ability to integrate emotional experience with rational thought. In the Wise Mind, the best of our thinking and the value of our emotions come together as a single, coherent reality. This integration does not blur reason and emotion, but honors each within its own domain.

Spirituality offers a way to embrace the whole person. I believe that every aspect of our being holds spiritual meaning and significance and can contribute to Wise Mind awareness. Within the Wise Mind there is a sense of quiet and clarity, creating the best conditions for forming and carrying out plans that are both emotionally attuned and logically sound. This integration represents a profound opportunity for creating a meaningful and fulfilling life.

I am prepared to support individuals of all faiths—and those without a formal religious affiliation—on their spiritual journey. You will be accepted as you are, and your beliefs will be respected and honored.
